Proceedings of a committee of seven, James Moir Ferres, Chairman, recording its investigation into charges preferred by John A. Macdonald on Feb. 26, 1856, against Brown. The latter was accused of having made false records and influenced witnesses while he was acting as a member and secretary of the commission appointed to inquire into the condition of the provincial penitentiary in 1848.
